Joanna Czapińska

Joanna Czapińska (Doctor of Musical Art, habilitated) is a graduate of the Feliks Nowowiejski Academy of Music in Bydgoszcz, where she studied violin in Wiesława Ronowska’s class. In 1991 she was awarded a scholarship by the then Minister of Culture and Art. The same year, acting under the auspices of the Minister of Culture and Art as well as the Polish President, the Foundation for Extraordinarily Talented Youth and Their Teachers presented Joanna with the prestigious silver Primus Inter Pares badge. She participated in the well-known International Piano Masterclasses in Duszniki-Zdrój, where she worked with the great pianist Tatiana Shebanova. She further developed her interest in chamber music by taking part in a number of courses at home (with Maria Szwajgier-Kułakowska, Andrzej Tatarski and Jadwiga Kaliszewska) and abroad, including the International Masterclasses for Sonata Duos (Lausanne 1993) with Pavel Gililov and Pierre Amoyal. She has regularly appeared as an accompanist at the Summer Masterclasses for String Instruments (Łańcut, Żagań), and received an award of distinction at the 6th Dezyderiusz Danczowski National Cello Competition in Poznań for an outstanding chamber music pianist (1997). Joanna is busy giving concerts in Poland and abroad (the Czech Republic, Switzerland, Italy, Japan). Since 1992 she has been working at the Bydgoszcz Academy of Music, where she is currently teaching her own accompaniment class in the Department of Chamber Music and Bowed String Instruments.
