Renata Marzec

Prof. Renata Marzec – Associate professor at The Feliks Nowowiejski Academy of Music in Bydgoszcz. In 1990 she completed her Master’s degree in cello, under Prof. Roman Suchecki’s guidance (Instrumental Studies, The Feliks Nowowiejski Academy of Music). After graduation, Renata Marzec begun to work at her home Academy of Music where she is currently employed and successfully continues to teach and coordinate her cello class, leads chamber music students ensembles and delivers lectures on cello pedagogy techniques.
As a result of her academic and educational activity, for years her alumni have been awarded in local and international cello competitions (Ewa Witczak – Distinction at International Music Contest in Barletta, Italy; Joanna Laskowska – 2nd award at International Chamber Music Contest in Radziejowice, Poland).
At the beginning of her career as a cellist, Renata Marzec collaborated with Capella Bydgostiensis Chamber Orchestra (1993-1996). She has given many recitals both locally (Bydgoszcz, Warszawa, Toruń, Włocławek, Inowrocław, Świnoujście, Międzyzdroje, Pasym, Kraków, Zakopane, Bukowina Tatrzańska, Skawin, Nowy Targ, Oleśnica, Szczecin, Międzyzdroje) and internationally (Reggio Emilia, Italy; Antibes, France; Bratislava, Slovakia). Due to her genuine interest in chamber music she initiated the creation of piano trio with Katarzyna Cąbrowska and Magdalena Swatowska. She endeavoured to enrich her repertoire, thus she have begun the collaboration with baroque trio with Urszula Bartkiewicz and Andrzej Łęgowski. She further deepened her knowledge and practice in chamber music by collaborating with Dimitri Sitkowiecki, Jadwiga Kaliszewska, Lech Bałaban, Marcin Sikorski, Bolesław Siarkiewicz and Piotr Reichert.
The artist’s extensive repertoire features many works including sonats (J. Brahms, D. Szostakowicz, L. van Beethoven. C. Debussy, C. Franc, G. Cassado, P. Hindemith); piano trios (J.Haydn, W.A. Mozart, L. van Beethoven, J. Brahms, A. Borodin, S. Rachmaninow, D. Szostakowicz, G. Faure, A. Panufnik); piano quartets (J.Brahms, G.Faure) and piano quintets (J. Brahmas i D. Szostakowicz).
Among the works she performs are the masterpieces of XX century written for cello solo. In Marzec’s repertoire there are some extraordinary masterpieces of piano and string music by I. Albeniz E.Ysaye of which the artist herself created cello transcriptions. As a soloist she performed with “Pro Arte” Symphonic Orchestra.
Renata Marzec and her husband Radosław Marzec are the founders and members of The Cellorganic duet and they have been performing together for several years now. The concerts, always accompanied with a great audience applause, are intended to popularize the extraordinary repertoire for cello and organ including pieces written by F.Liszt. J.Jongen, M.Dupre, J.S.Bach, A.Vivaldi, A.Scarlatti, C.Saint-Saens, G Rossini.
Between 1994 and 2015 Renata Marzec has been leading her cello class in State Music School in Inowrocław. She extended her educational activity by organizing many instrumental courses and giving lectures, both locally and internationally, e.g. in Cracow, Torun, Inowrocław, Mława, Radziejow and Bratislava.
In years 1999-2002 and 2008-2012 she has been elected associate dean of Instrumental Department of The Feliks Nowowiejski Academy of Music in Bydgoszcz. She was responsible for creating full-time instrumental studies educational programmes. As a head of doctoral studies she created doctoral studies’ educational agenda. Between years 2002-2008 and then since 2012 she has been elected dean of Instrumental Department.
